Please call after 3:00pm to enquire about your test results as our reception staff will have more time to deal with your request between these times.
The person giving you your result is only able to give you the comment written in your medical records by the doctor.
If your results have been requested by a consultant they will be given a copy.
Following up the results of any investigations is your responsibility. Please make sure that you either call the results line, check online or make a follow-up appointment (if recommended by your GP) to get the results of your blood tests, x-rays, scans or other tests arranged by the surgery.
You will not necessarily be contacted about abnormal results so make sure that you have checked the outcome of tests.
Normally the turn around time for tests is as follows:
|Blood Tests||5 working days (some specialist tests may take longer)|
|Urine Tests||5 working days|
|Stool and swab tests||1 – 2 weeks|
|X-rays / scans||2 weeks|
These are not guaranteed times, and some tests may take longer.
Please note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and as such our staff can only give results to the patient who has had the test. Exceptions to this are: requests for test results for a child or person who lacks capacity, prior written permission received from a patient, or Power of Attorney for health and welfare (a copy of which must be held by the practice). All patients aged 16 and over are required to call in personally for their own results.
